New boys Whitehawk were beaten by a very good and hard working Maidenhead side.
The dangerous and outstanding Richard Pacquette nearly opened the scoring in the first minute but pulled his shot wide when well placed to score.
The Hawks made a nervous and shaky start, but could have been level when Charlie Henry miscued his volley.
Whitehawk’s Jake Robinson had a couple of chances before Pacquette broke down the right and his cross cannoned off the unfortunate Tom Cadmore and into the net for the opening goal on 21 minutes.
Hawks were nearly level in injury time when a Tommy Fraser free kick hit the bar.
Whitehawk had the ball in the net just after the hour mark but it was ruled out for offside.
The Magpies were well drilled and always seemed that extra yard quicker and went two goals in front through the impressive Pacquette who fired home after a corner was not cleared by the home side.
Jake Robinson fired over when it was probably easier to give the pass than shoot.
A few goalmouth scrambles brought the usual ooh’s and arrh’s from the crowd.
A great save from the visiting keeper Elvijs Putnins from Whitehawk’s Joe Keehan kept the scores level.
Danny Green brought out a great save from home keeper Chris Winterton, before a class finish from Maidenhead’s Harry Pritchard from outside the box gave Winterton no chance and capped of a great display from the Magpies.
Whitehawk go to Bromley on Tuesday night hoping to put today’s result behind them.
